The bill relating to territorial authorities will further strengthen the prerogatives of the People’s Provincial and Municipal Assemblies, affirmed Sunday, in Algiers, Minister of Interior, Local Authorities and National Planning, Nourredine Bedoui.
“The broad prerogatives granted to the APCs and APWs will be further and more accurately reflected in the draft law on local and regional authorities, which will consolidate and define the prerogatives of the elected representative in various fields”, Mr. Bedoui said in his speech pronounced on the occasion of the opening of a training session for local elected officials, at the National School of Administration (ENA), Moulay Ahmed Medeghri.
The Minister of the Interior pointed out that his sector gives a sustained interest in the training of local elected representatives “in view of the importance of the role of the elected representative in general and the local elected representative in particular”, enshrined in the communal code which stipulates that “the municipal councilor is required to follow courses of training and development related to management”, particularly in terms of development.
