Foreign Affairs Minister to pay official visits to Russia, Belarus, Turkey from 18- 23 Feb

A statement from the ministry said, Friday, that the Foreign Affairs Minister, Abdelkader Messahel, will pay official visits to the Russian Federation, the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Turkey, taking place from 18 to 23 February.

“The visit of the Algerian Diplomacy Head to Russia on 18 and 19 February 2018, will present a new opportunity to consolidate the strategic partnership relations between the two countries, which have reached an appreciable level of maturity, as evidenced by the many visits of high level traded between the two countries, over the last two years”, added the same source.

It was noted in the same text that “the Algerian-Russian partnership has entered a concrete stage through the signing of the various agreements in the economic, commercial, scientific and technical activities fields”.

In this context, “Mr. Messahel will proceed with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov and with other Russian officials to a comprehensive evaluation of bilateral cooperation and a projection on the prospects for deepening this partnership”.

“These talks will also be an opportunity for both parties to tackle all regional and international issues of common interest, in particular the Western Sahara cause, the Syrian conflict, the Palestinian cause and the fight against terrorism and radicalization”, it was noted.

“Mr. Abdelkader Messahel will also visit Belarus on February 20th, 2018, the first that a head of Algerian diplomacy has conducted in the country, since the establishment of diplomatic ties between the two countries in 1995”, the statement stressed.

“This visit will give new impetus to the bilateral political dialogue and establish with this partner the legal and institutional mechanisms for structuring bilateral relations”.

After this step, the head of Algerian diplomacy “will visit Ankara, on February 22 and 23, 2018”, included the same source.

“This visit will be an opportunity to give a new impetus to the political dialogue between Algeria and Turkey and to further consolidate bilateral cooperation in the different areas”, we learned.
