Hydrocarbons: ALNAFT launches studies to assess non-conventional, offshore potential

The National Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Development (ALNAFT) has launched several studies to assess Algeria’s potential in offshore and non-conventional resources, announced in Houston the head of its board of directors Arezki Hocini.

“We are conducting six studies to accurately determine what we have as potential in offshore and unconventional resources,” said Hocini at the second Algerian-American energy forum held in Houston.

The studies concern all the basins of the Sahara and all the Algerian coasts with the aim to complete the evaluation of the hydrocarbon reserves of the country.

Already, the results of the first study conducted by Sonatrach in the Ahnet basin are encouraging and showed a strong recovery of hydrocarbons, which is even higher than the world average, said Hocini to the APS on the sidelines of this forum.
