Minister of Commerce, Mohammed Benmeradi, said Tuesday that a working group supervised by the Prime Minister, is currently reconsidering the subsidy system to shift to a targeted system of subsidy; by highlighting that the working group is composed of officials from the Finance Ministry and several other ministries.

Responding to the concerns of members of the APN’s Committee on Economic Affairs, Development, Industry, Trade and Planning on measures to guide state subsidies, the Minister indicated that the working group set up at the level of the Prime Ministry is examining the file, saying that the operation would not be completed, before the end of 2018.

He recalled that this revision is part of the reforms announced by the Prime Minister, Ahmed Ouyahia, during the presentation of his action plan to members of the APN.

Itc is worth recalling that Benmeradi said, Sunday, that an assessment of the subsidy system was under way at the government level, adding “we are working to see concretely how to switch from a generalized subsidy system to a targeted system that will allow us to make an end to this incoherence which contributes to the disturbances observed in foreign trade”.
