BETWEEN three and five people have died and more than 100 others have been left injured after a commuter train derailed, in the suburbs of Milan, this morning.
The train, which was full of commuters, derailed between Treviglio and Pioltello on the outskirts of the Italian city, at around 7am this morning.
At least 10 of the injured are said to be in a serious condition and some passengers are believed to be trapped in the wreckage.
Rescuers are searching the wreckage for survivors and dozens of emergency service personnel are on the scene.
A spokesman for state-owned train firm Ferrovie dello Stato confirmed that an accident had occurred in Pioltello, around 40km from central Milan.
