The celebrations for Yennayer, now a national holiday, officially kicked off, Wednesday, in Algiers, by highlighting the culinary and clothing specificities and parades specific to every region of the country.
It is worth highlighting that in an instruction sent by the Director of Religious Affairs and Wakfs of the wilaya of Biskra, Imams are instructed to dedicate Friday’s Khotba (speech delivered in the mosques before the sacred Friday prayer) to the “historic decision” of the president of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, to declare Yennayer national day.
