Algeria’s “Kindil El Bahr” at KARAMA Film Festival of Amman

The short film “Kindil El  Bahr” (Medusa, the Jellyfish) by Algerian-French filmmaker Damian Ounouri will be screened  at the 8th KARAMA Human Rights Film Festival which kicked off Tuesday in Amman, in Jordan, with the participation of more than 70 films representing 25 countries.


Released in 2016, “Kindil el bahr”, based on a script co-written by the director and the Algerian actress Adila Bendimred, evokes the condition of women through the history of Nafissa, beaten to death by a group of men on a beach.

The film was recently awarded the Best Director and Audience Award at the 6th Luxor Film Festival in Egypt, as well as the Best Short Film Award at the 22nd Festival of World Cinema in Paris, in addition to the Prix “Filmmaker to Filmmaker Award” of the 26th Aspen Short Film Festival in Colorado (USA).
