Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday that the Iranians will not be fooled by the US game, calling on the US government to stop offering “fake sympathy” for the Iranian nation.
In a tweet on Wednesday, Zarif highlighted US President Donald Trump’s hostile agenda against the Islamic Republic, saying his recent statements against the Iranian nation blew the lid off Washington’s “faux sympathy.”
“US changed one elected govt (government) in Iran— in 1953. It has tried a repeat since 79. Iranians not fooled by US game & unmoved by fake sympathy,” the top Iranian diplomat said.
“Faux sympathy for Iranians belied by Trump’s use of fake name for Persian Gulf, calling them terrorist nation & banning them from visiting,” he added.
He also recommended US officials to “lose the ‘standing with the Iranian people’ mantra.”
“They (Iranians) elected their president w/ (with) 6 million more popular votes & 73% turnout. Compare?” he tweeted.
