EUCOCO sharpens aggressive strategy for more solidarity with Sahrawi people

The 42rd session of EUCOCO, being held on Saturday and Sunday in Vitry-sur-Seine (Southern suburb of Paris) laid the foundations of a “more aggressive” and “promising” strategy to broaden the solidarity with the Sahrawi people, who are fighting for the right to independence and self-determination.

It is a task force which must federate, according to the different speakers, all the “promising” actions towards countries, institutions, parliamentarians and associations, which give little interest to the question of Western Sahara, occupied by Morocco since 1975 and whose solution advocated by the UN resolutions remains blocked.

Former Special Envoy of the UN Secretary-General for Western Sahara (2005-2007), Francesco Bastagli, insisted that there is “a lot of work to be done” within the UN institutions, especially the General Assembly and the Fourth Committee of the United Nations.
