Algeria- UNDP: Cooperation in industrial and mining development


Minister of Industry and Mines, Youcef Yousfi, has received, on Thursday in Algiers, the representative of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Eric Overvest, with whom he spoke of cooperation between Algeria and a UN agency, in the fields of industrial and mining development, the Ministry said in a statement.

The interview allowed Yousfi and Overvest, also resident coordinator of the United Nations in Algeria, “to examine the state of cooperation between Algeria and this UN agency, in the fields of industrial development and the means of strengthening it, through an exchange of views on the various programs currently being implemented, part of which is financed by this organization (the Global Environment Facility and the Green Climate Fund), the source said.

Regarding the prospects for co-operation between Algeria and UNDP, the Minister wished to integrate other aspects, including technical assistance in the domain of ​​mercury mine clearance and remediation, as well as resource water’s management.
