“Algeria talks about itself” in Lille to promote Algerian culture

A cultural event entitled “Algeria talks about itself” was organized Saturday, in Lille, as part of the promotion of the Algerian culture, according to Algeria’s general consulate in Lille.


The organizer of this two-day event, the Nationale Street merchants’ association, in partnership with the Consulate General of Algeria in Lille, concocted a rich program, including exhibitions, debates and discussions, the source said.

It is an opportunity to give a great deal of visibility to Algerian artists in their diversity, and to provoke a debate on the role of culture in France and Algeria.

On the program of this non-profit event is an exhibition by painter-artist Farid Lakhdar Settoul, spaces dedicated to the sale and signing of books by the various present authors and exchanges between artists and the public.

Discussions were also organized around the culture and civic engagement in Algeria, the memory and the history of Algerians in France (the heritage).

They are led by academics, entrepreneurs, journalists and sociologists.

The screening of the film “Wech Derna” by Riadh Touat, and the representation of the tale “Look at the sea” by Kamel Zouaoui were followed by debates, the same source  indicated.
