National textbook fair opens in Algiers

The textbook fair opened Tuesday in Riadh El-Feth (Algiers) under the supervision of the ministers of National Education and Culture, respectively Nouria Benghebrit and Azzedine Mihoubi, APS reported.

Organized by the National Office for School Publications (ONPS), this fair, which will run until September 12, with 38 exhibitors, will allow parents to acquire textbooks and school supplies for their children for the school year 2017 -2018 scheduled for Wednesday.

In a statement to the press on the sidelines of the opening of the show, Mrs. Benghebrit reassured the citizens of the availability of textbooks at the level of distribution centers under the ONPS and at the level of the 800 private bookstores authorized to sell the textbook.

The new second-generation textbooks (3rd and 4th grades, middle and 3rd grades) will be available in all schools by September 10th. ”

65 million copies of school textbooks were printed this year, including 400 million new textbooks, the minister said.

“The textbook will be used after 15 days of the academic re-entry, which will allow the teacher to evaluate the student,” she said.

For his part, the Minister of Culture emphasized the quality of the textbook, indicating that the editors took into account the observations of the official bodies and the parents of pupils.
