Algeria has placed youth promotion “at the heart of its priorities” in order to promote the role of this essential component of society in the process of national socio-economic development, said the Vice-President of the People’s National Assembly Djamel Bouras during the 9th Annual Conference of African Parliaments, held on 10 and 11 August at the headquarters of the Pan-African Parliament in Midrand, South Africa, APS reported.
Mr. Bouras, who led the Algerian parliamentary delegation to this conference, whose main theme was “Exploiting the demographic dividend through investment in youth”, highlighted the various programs and mechanisms put in place by the Algerian government for the youth.
He said that the Higher Council for Youth has a mission to “contribute to the promotion of national values, patriotic consciousness, civic spirit and social solidarity”.
Mr. Bouras took the opportunity to reiterate “the readiness and commitment of Algeria to associate and support any African initiative to promote the role of youth in Africa in accordance with the vision of the African Union’s Agenda 2063, “the source said.
He noted, in this context, the efforts made by Algeria since its independence for the benefit of African youth, stating that 100,000 African cadres have been trained in the various Algerian universities and vocational training centers.
