Foreign Minister Abdelkader Messahel affirmed Friday in Algiers that the implementation of Algiers agreement is dependent on the willingness of the signatory parties to implement it, through trust and permanent dialogue, reiterating Algeria’s commitment to accompany the Malian people in their quest to maintain cohesion and sovereignty, APS reported.
Mr Messahel said that his meeting with the UN official was the opportunity to assess the situation in the country and the implementation of the Bamako agreement resulting from the Algiers process.
He recalled, in the same context, that the situation in Mali remains “complicated and complex”, given the impact of the security situation in Libya, the terrorist threats of the Boko Haram group in Niger, organized crime and terrorism networks in the region.
“There are a lot of factors that challenge the international community to work seriously on the issue so that everyone can contribute,” he said, referring to Algeria’s role in this regard and its ” process leading to the signing of the Algiers Agreement “.
For his part, Mr Annadif welcomed the “positive and leading” role of Algeria in Mali.
