The Algerian Minister of National Education, Nouria Benghabrit, has met on Tuesday in Algiers, the Minister of Culture and Handicrafts and spokesperson of Mauritanian Government, Mohamed Lemine Ould Cheïkh, with whom she discussed how to strengthen relations between both countries, particularly in the field of cultural and educational exchanges.
In a statement to the press after the meeting, Benghabrit described her talks with the Mauritanian minister as “fruitful”, saying that they have focused on “ways to strengthen cultural and educational exchanges between both countries “.
The meeting was also an opportunity to discuss proposals for the election of the new General Director of the Arab Organization for Education, Culture and Science (ALECSO).
After describing the talks as “positive,” the Mauritanian minister said they had made proposals on criteria for selecting the new General Director of ALECSO.
Mr Ould Cheïkh added that he and Benghabrit discussed ways of strengthening partnership and co-operation between Algeria and Mauritania in cultural and educational aspects.
