The scientific documentary “Diar El Bahr” was screened, Monday at the Annaba cinematheque, in the presence of representatives of the media, local officials and partners associated with the production of this work, APS reported.
Presented as the first 100% Algerian scientific documentary, “Diar El Bahr” is an idea of a Hippone Sub diving club, which has been co-financed by the micro-finance program “UNDP” (United Nations Development Fund) and the Global Environment Facility (GEF).
Produced by a professional technical team led by director Hamza Mendil, the film recounts in 54 minutes a typically “scientific” ecological operation on the creation of artificial reefs in the underwater area of Cape Ras El Hamra near the city of ” Annaba.
The documentary follows step by step the different stages of the installation by the divers of the Hippone Sub club of caches that transform into a reef providing refuge and breeding place for various species of fish.
In addition to its ecological, economic and tourist importance, this project is a pedagogical and experimental work for the students of the Department of Marine Sciences of Badji Mokhtar University in Annaba.
The documentary will be presented to the public as from 15 August in the cinematheques of the cities of Annaba, Algiers and Oran.
A rich debate took place at the end of the screening of the film, in the presence of academics, the film crew and members of the Hippone Sub club.
