Muslims in many countries are celebrating Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, Alalam news reported.
Algeria, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Indonesia, Jordan, Kuwait, Palestine, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Sudan, Tunisia, Turkey, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and Yemen announced Sunday as Eid al-Fitr.
The occasion will be marked in Iran, Oman, Morocco and other countries on Monday.
The fasting month of Ramadan — the ninth month on the Islamic calendar — ends with the celebration of Eid al-Fitr, which is one of the main Muslim holidays.
Celebrations begin with a special early morning prayer in mosques and open-air areas and later move on to feasts and festivals.
