The Turkish foreign minister has arrived in Saudi Arabia amid growing diplomatic crisis in the Gulf region, Saudi Gazette reported.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s plane landed in the western Saudi city of Jeddah on Friday ahead of a meeting with Saudi King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in the holy city of Mecca in a bid to broker a solution to the unprecedented crisis.
The Saudi King Salman held talks with the Turkish official at Al-Safa Palace in Makkah on Friday night.
The two leaders reviewed the bilateral relations between the two countries. They also discussed the latest developments in the region.
Earlier, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Egypt, and the United Arab Emirates severed ties with Qatar in early June, officially accusing Doha of supporting terrorism and destabilizing the region.
