Creation of Solar Energy Cluster in Algiers

The Solar Energy Cluster has been created on Wednesday in Algiers by  a core group of SMEs activating in the renewable energies sector in collaboration with Industry and Mining Ministry, APS reported.

At the ceremony for the launch of this cluster, Abdelghani Mebarki, Director General of the SME at  the Ministry, said that this cluster will bring together 16 entities.

This is the setting up of the 4th industrial cluster after those of beverages, precision mechanics and the digital economy already in operation.

Furthermore, the official highlighted that two other clusters are  in the process of being created, namely those of plastics and dates.

Innovinvest Group’s  President Mohamed Réda Smahi stressed that the creation of a solar energy cluster is the most appropriate way to launch professional and operational meetings in a short timeframe for a review of all proposals and initiatives to develop and strengthen a strong and diversified industrial program dedicated to the success of the national renewable energy program.

This cluster, he continued, will help to establish bridges and opportunities that will greatly facilitate cooperation and relations between its members and  other agencies and institutions.

As regards the constituent assembly of this cluster, it should be held at the end of June to allow the adoption of an action plan.

In this context, energy expert Mourad Preur highlighted the stakes of the energy transition and the positioning of the photovoltaic sector, saying that Algeria is staggered in this area in terms of production and consumption. He also argued that SMEs must be at the forefront of the fight in this area.
