University teachers in the province of Ouargla (South-East Algeria) are still waiting their salaries in unprecedented case, according to ALG 24, which published an internal memorandum sent by the Rector.
The Rector explained that the delay in the payment of salaries is due to the new policy adopted by the Ministry of Finance, the source said.
The Department of Finance is no longer allocating annual budget to universities for paying employees’ salaries on time, but on a monthly basis, says the Rector, who also clarified that his department has nothing to do with these delays , ALG24 continues.
In addition to this note, the budget for scientific research has been greatly impacted.
According to ALG24 sources, the conditions for participation in seminars and / or conferences abroad have been thoroughly reviewed.
At the University of Science and Technology Houari Boumediene in Bab Ezzouar, in Algiers, teachers are no longer allowed to use the materials of the university for printing of handouts, the same source concluded.
