The Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel, was received on Wednesday in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguessou, to which he conveyed a message from the President of the Republic, Abdelaziz Bouteflika, said the Foreign Ministry in a statement, APS reported.
During the meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the summit of the Committee of Ten Heads of State and Governments on the reform of the United Nations Security Council (C-10), President Sassou Nguessou , Welcomed the “exceptional” relations which bind Algeria
and Congo, that have just experienced a qualitative leap thanks to the recent visit to Algeria last March, which he described as a highlight in relations between the two countries.”
At the same time, the official called Mr Messahel to convey to President Bouteflika his sentiments of esteem and fraternity, as well as his appreciation of his personal and continuous commitment to the promotion of the interests of ‘Africa”.
At the meeting, Messahel made a presentation on “the latest developments in Libya in the light of his last two visits to Libya in March and May 2017”.
President Sassou Nguessou expressed “his high appreciation of the personal efforts” of President Bouteflika, “in favor of a political solution to the Libyan crisis, based on inter-Libyan dialogue and national reconciliation, outside any foreign interference” .
At the same time, he reiterated “his commitment and determination, as Chairman of the High-Level Committee of the African Union for Libya, to do everything possible to strengthen the contribution of the African Union to the resolution of the Libyan crisis”.
