“Maersk Oil”’s CEO eager to further cooperate with Sonatrach

The CEO of the Danish oil company “Maersk Oil”, Gretchen H. Watkins, pointed out, on Tuesday in a meeting  with the Minister of Energy, Noureddine Boutarfa, held in Algiers, that she  is eager to further  invest  in Algeria and  strengthen its partnership with Sonatrach, APS reported.

The two sides discussed the ongoing partnership projects in Algeria and the prospects for investment in oil exploration and production in Algeria.

“Maersk Oil” is investing in the oil and gas field  in  Berkine basin (East of Hassi-Messaoud).

A Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation was inked in October 2016 between Sonatrach and “Maersk Oil” in order to establish an enabling environment for research and the realization of new opportunities between the two companies in new hydrocarbon projects.
