The head of the government of national unity Fayez al-Sarraj and Marshal Khalifa Haftar, discussed Tuesday in Abu Dhabi the “main points of discord” in order to speed up the process of finding solution to the Libyan crisis, in accordance with the inter-Libyan policy Agreement, Radio Algerie reported.
As part of efforts to reach a political settlement in the Libyan conflict, Fayez al-Sarraj and Marshal Khalifa Haftar held closed talks in the UAE capital, focusing on “the main points of discord” related to the political agreement signed by the Libyan parties in December 2015 under the auspices of the UN.
The meeting in Abu Dhabi between both officials, the second of its kind after the one held in January 2016 shortly after the appointment of Mr. al-Sarraj as head of the GNA, was held “thanks to international and Arab mediation”, according to media sources.
