International dance:  American dance troupe to perform at Opera of Algiers


International Dance Festival to be held in Algiers from April 29 to May 2, 2017 in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, US embassy was pleased to announce the arrival yesterday in Algiers of BODYTRAFFIC, a modern dance troupe based in Los Angeles to perform on April 30 at the Algiers Opera Boualem Bessaieh as part of its participation in the festival, according to US Embassy official twitter.

Throughout this year, BODYTRAFFIC has presented performances for large audiences and prestigious venues at North American festivals, including Dance Jacob’s Pillow Festival, New York City’s Fall for Dance Festival, Chutzpah Festival! Vancouver, Laguna Dance Festival, Broad Stage in Santa Monica,  Annenberg Center in Philadelphia, and  World Music / CRASHarts in Boston. They were especially noted at the Opening Gala of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Walt Disney Concert Hall under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel in collaboration with choreographer Victor Qujida, sculptor, Gustavo Godoy, and composer, Jasper Gahunia.

In Algiers, this dance troupe will host a three-day workshop for the dancers of  National Ballet and  children of Chams Association.

BODYTRAFFIC will join the dancers of National Ballet and children of Chams association for a second show at ‘ Moufdi Zakaria’ Culture Palace on May 2 at 18:30.
