UK-Algeria Travel Advice: More green regions in Algeria

FCO: Algeria desert, considered before region of high threat, largely opened to foreigns

Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has updated, on April 26th , travel Advice to Algeria, introducing some changes to the parts of Algeria to which the FCO advise against travel.

Most parts of the Algerian Sahara, considered before regions of a high threat namely: Tamanrasset, Tindouf, Adrar and Illizi, have been declared safe places including the deep south, however, border area  with Libya, Mauritania, Niger and Mali remain forbidden due to  terrorism threats and remains.

On the other hand, tourists travelling to border areas with Tunisia should confirm the necessity of the trip, whereas the remaining parts are largely opened to foreign  visitors.

Earlier, there were Long-standing travel warnings against the deserts of the Deep South, where the crags of the Hoggar Mountains are to be found, captivating touristic sites as well as investment opportunities in oil  and renewable energy fields.
