Algerian Cultural Center in Paris presents a pictorial exhibition

A pictorial exhibition”Symphonie du temps”  of women series portraits, by ‘Rachid Benhadj’  at Algerian Cultural Center in Paris.

These series of women portraits  of women or wrinkled faces are sublimated as living landscapes that change with the rhythm of the seasons. Subtle wrinkles left by time passes as an indelible mark. Each portrait reveals in filigree the secret dreams of love, the cry of revolts, the imprints of their perpetual resistance.

A polyhedral artist, Rachid Benhadj, native of Algiers, from his childhood, had a strong passion for painting, which he continued to cultivate during his studies of architecture and cinema in Paris.

In 1973, he participated in the exhibition of foreign artists in Paris where he was awarded the Grand Prix de peinture, an important springboard for a series of international, personal and collective exhibitions.

In 1989 he joined the group “Figuration Critique” movement created in Paris by Maurice Rapin and Mirabelle Dors, students of the surrealists René Magritte and André Breton.

Benhadj’s works have been exhibited in several countries, such as the Grand Palais in Paris (XI Salon of “Critical Figuration” (France), Museum of Modern Art in Moscow (Russia), Santillana Foundation in Santillana by M. Cantabria (Spain), the Rundetarn Gallery in Copenhagen (Denmark), Museum of Fine Arts in Mons (Belgium), the Gallery in Milan (Italy) etc. This is his second exhibition at the CCA in Paris.

Rachid Benhadj is known to the general public mainly as a director of films such as “Louss (Roses of sands)”, “Touchia (Cantique des femmes d’Alger)”, “The tree of suspended destinies”, “MIRKA” Actresses of international renown: Gérard Depardieu, Vanessa Redgrave, Franco Nero, photo director Vittorio Storaro, “Le pain nu” adaptation of the famous novel by the Moroccan writer Mohamed Choukri, “Parfums d’Alger” and more recently  ” L’étoile d’Alger “. This last film was awarded in 2017 in several film festivals, including that of Sousse (Tunisia).

This exhibition will start at 18:30.
