Algeria is following with “concern” the evolution of the situation in Syria, said Sunday the Minister of Maghreb Affairs, the African Union and the League of Arab States, Abdelkader Messahel.
“Algeria is following with concern the evolution of the situation in Syria at a time when efforts, aimed at a political solution, are being negotiated by the Syrian parties,” said the minister in a statement reported by Radio Algerie.
The same official added that “Algeria considers that any military escalation can only undermine the efforts of the international community in the process of political settlement to the Syrian crisis”.
