The Ulemas, preachers and Imams of the Sahel countries expressed their gratitude for Algeria’s efforts to anchor stability in the region, under the leadership of President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, APS reported.
The members of the League of Ulemas, preachers and Imams of the countries of the Sahel expressed on Wednesday, their recognition and esteem to Algeria and the President Abdelaziz Bouteflika, one of the greatest sages of the African continent .
They also thanked the President of the High Islamic Council (HCI), Bouabdellah Ghlamallah, who ensured the smooth running of the League’s work.
The League’s two-day action program resulted in the election of Nigerian Murtala Ahmed, the new president of the League, in addition to the installation of Youcef Belmehdi.
The League of Scholars of the Sahel includes representatives of the countries of the region, namely Algeria, Mauritania, Mali, Nigeria, Niger, Burkina Faso and Chad, besides Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal and Republic of Guinea.
