The commander of the National Gendarmerie, Major General Menad Nouba, highlighted, Wednesday in a speech at the end of the colloquium on “exchanges of experience and the integration of operational methodologies” in Algiers, the need to mobilize all the material and human means necessary to protect the borders and preserve the security and stability of the country, APS reported.
The official emphasized the need to protect the security of the country and to preserve its stability and territorial integrity, warning against “destructive doctrines and movements that use identity and religion to propagate ideas that threaten the stability of the country and social cohesion.
“These movements are, at present, a major challenge, due to the high media coverage and the increasing use of information and communication technologies, like social networks,” said the same official.
He also warned against attempts by some “destructive movements” to exploit the current socio-economic situation in the country resulting from a global economic recession and the approach of the parliamentary elections “to stir up social tensions.
Concerning the situation prevailing in the Maghreb, “President Abdelaziz Bouteflika has consistently advocated respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries, “he concluded.
