French Presidency: 11 candidates validated for the race at Elysée


The candidates for the 2017’s French presidential elections, having managed to obtain the 500 signatures, are now known, APS reported.

The French Constitutional Council validated officially the candidature of 11 individuals so as to undertake the first round of the presidential elections, scheduled for April 23rd .

The President of the Council, Laurent Fabius, announced the names of the candidates, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the representative of the extreme left and leader of the ” France insoumise ” movement, Benoît Hamon, left-wing socialist candidate Emmanuel Macron, the founder of the centrist movement ” En Marche ”, Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, head of the party ” Debout la France ”, as well as François Fillon, representative of the Republican right, Nathalie Arthaud, candidate of the movement ” Lutte Ouvrière ”, Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right party, National  Front and François Asselineau, president of the Republican Popular  Union.

In addition to, Philippe Poutou, the candidate of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA), the parliamentary deputy, Jean Lassalle and finally Jacques Cheminade, the founder of the “Solidarity and Progress” party.
