Sardinia’s exports to Arab countries increased by 2.7%

Sardinia’s exports, out of oil businesses has reached to more than 96 million Euros worth of goods to Arab countries in 2016, increased by 2.7% comparing to a previous year, Ansamed website reported on Friday.

Economically speaking, 50 million represented by the exports of craft industries and small and medium-sized companies.
Sales to the southern shores of the Mediterranean in the food, leather, and textile, ready-to-wear, metal and manufacturing sectors last year recorded a 2.7% growth from the previous year.
In this regard, the 2016 numbers just cited have registered a different trend from the 4.9% drop regarding overall Sardinian exports, concerning exports from Sardinia to Saudi Arabia, Libya, Lebanon, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, Tunisia, UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Iraq, Jordan, Syria and other countries in the League of Arab States drafted by the center of studies of Italian artisan association, Confartigianato, based on data provided by national statistics bureau Istat.
Moreover, 47.9 million Euros worth of Sardinian products have been sold to Saudi Arabia (up 45.2% from 2015), 15.2 to the UAE (- 33.1%), 14.9 to Bahrain (+161.1%), 4.8 to Tunisia (+28%), 4.5 to Morocco (+90.3%), 2.9 to Egypt (-56.3%) and two million to Libya (+187.6%).
