Arab League: Messahel calls for deep reforms


The Arab League requires deep reforms to be adapted to the latest developments in the Arab world, said the Minister of Maghreb Affairs, African Union and Arab League, Abdelkader Messahel.

Given the critical situation witnessed in the Arab world as well as the spread of the phenomenon of terrorism in the Arab countries, “it is imperative to carry out far-reaching reforms within the Arab League to adapt it to the latest devolopment, “said Mr Messahel, who was the guest of the program” Hiwar Essaâ “.

In this aspect, the official highlighted  that the reform of the Arab League will be a priority for Algeria during its presidency of the 147th session of the Arab League ‘s Foreign Ministers Council  (March-September 2017), in addition to the peaceful settlement of conflicts, respect for The sovereignty of states and the inclusion of the Palestinian cause.
Algeria has assumed the presidency of the Council last Tuesday for a period of six (6) months.

Concerning the Syrian crisis, Messahel reiterated Algeria’s consistent stance which favors political solution through inclusive dialogue, national reconciliation and respect for the will of the Syrian people.

The minister recalled Algerian position against any foreign interference in Syria.
