The delegation partook in the National Prayer Breakfast, organized by the Congress.
The ceremony was attended also by President Donald Trump, Senator Hafida Benchehida, the Deputy Speaker of the People’s National Assembly Djamel Bouras, the spokesperson of the RND Seddik Chiheb as well as the president of the Algeria-American Parliamentary Friendship Group Abdelkrim Meheni.
During the three meetings, held with Republican senator from Oklahoma Jim Inhofe, and the two Democrat congressmen and members of the Group of Friends of Algeria within the American Congress Joseph Kennedy and John Conyers, the officials reviewed bilateral relations between Algeria and USA as well as means to give a boost to constructive and effective cooperation.
The officials tackled mainly the United States’ support for investment in Algeria.
As for USA, American officials called Algeria to diversify its national economy and not to remain dependent on oil and gaz.
During these meetings, they broached also the leading role of the high independent authority for monitoring elections in the establishment of democratic process.
In addition to the issue of democracy in Algeria, based on the Rule of Law and the guarantees for the protection of citizens’ freedoms.
