Iran/ space rocket Kavoshgar3: Paris expressed concern

PARIS - France expresses "deep concern" after the shooting Wednesday by Iran of a space rocket Kavoshgar-3, for "space launch and ballistic missile using common technologies," said Foreign Ministry.

  •    "We received with great concern the Iranian announcements that Iran has conducted a new missile test," said Ministry spokesman Bernard Valero, during a press briefing.

"The space and ballistic missiles launchers use a common technology. In the framework of space programs, states should not contribute to the proliferation of ballistic missiles that could serve as vectors of weapons of mass destruction," he said.

The Iranian state television said Wednesday that Tehran had "successfully tested the space rocket Kavoshgar-3, manufactured locally. The rocket carried an experimental capsule containing live animals, including rats, turtles and worms, the source said.

"This announcement can only reinforce the concerns of the international community while Iran develops a parallel nuclear program, without identifiable civilian target, in violation of five resolutions of the Security Council of the United Nations," said Bernard Valero.
